Our Mission: Through God, we support each other in Christian living, proclaim Christ's love and share God's gifts.
Our Vision: To recognize and use the gifts God has given cooperatively and individually to worship, praise, and serve God. To embrace, develop, and express various styles of worship options that reach our congregation and community.
OUR PASTOR is Rev. Karen Indorf. She can be reached by phone at 207-854-5653 or by email, [email protected].

Here we are a year into a pandemic. Who would have imagined the length of time we have endured with so many sick and dying and all of the restrictions we live with every day. We are grateful that finally our people are starting to get vaccinated, but it is going to be a while before many have immunity. Meanwhile, we continue to do our best as the presence of Christ in Westbrook and surrounding communities.
As long as it is safe, we will continue to worship with Holy Communion in our sanctuary every Sunday at 10:30. All are asked to wear masks and seating is arranged to comply with social distancing guidelines. Per CDC instructions and guidance from our New England Synod, there will be no congregational singing or choir. In addition, there is Zoom worship at 9:00. Contact me if you would like a link. Meanwhile we ask for your prayers that God would guide and bless us as we move forward.
We began the Lenten season on March 17 with an Ash Wednesday service. Palm Sunday is March 28, the beginning of Holy Week. There will be a service on Maundy Thursday, April 1 and Good Friday Tenebrae on April 2, both at 7:00. Easter festival worship will be held at 10:30 on April 4.
Throughout the course of this pandemic, we have continued to pray for the sick and dying. Visitation to our shut-ins and elderly has been done by phone/email/ on a porch or deck or garage or through a window. Cards are regularly sent to the home bound.
We continue to provide a weekly free Community Meal, in conjunction with Wayside Food Services, with takeout only. Prepackaged meals are distributed every Wednesday in our parking lot from 1:00-2:00. Although we all miss the fellowship, which is such an important feature of our Community Meal, communal dining is not permissible at this time. If you would like a takeout meal, just drop by and one will be provided. Please wear a mask. Some weeks on Thursday mornings at 9:30 we have USDA food boxes to distribute, but there is no regular schedule and we cannot always anticipate their availability. Contact me if you wish to be placed on a call list.
We have also been able to "adopt" two families from the Greater Portland Family Promise ministry that we are part of. These are immigrant families from Africa that went through the Family Promise program and now have apartments. However, the challenges of life in America are compounded by Covid -19. We are glad to lend some extra support. On Super Bowl Sunday, we collected cash donations and supermarket gift cards for the "Souper Bowl of Caring" to assist all the families helped by Family Promise.
During the past holiday season through our Alternate Gift Giving Program, we were blessed to be able to help My Sister's Keeper, ELCA World Hunger, Angel Tree Ministry for children of prisoners, and local agencies that help the homeless - Preble Street Resources, Florence House for Women, and Grace Street Ministry. We adopted 19 orphans in Harar, Ethiopia and supported prisoners in Nekemtke, Ethiopia.
We were not be able to have our annual Valentine's Tea this year, but we delivered cards and a goodie bag to our shut-ins and elderly. We will be doing the same before Easter.
Our annual spring "Climb Aboard the Food Train" event for the Westbrook Food Pantry is underway. We are placing collection jars in businesses and churches throughout Westbrook, as well as collecting food items. Although there are limited times when someone is at the church, you can contact us by private email at [email protected] Messages left in the church email or church phone may not be picked up immediately as we have no secretary regularly monitoring our communications.
May you find comfort in a God who is kind and merciful, and abounding in steadfast love, especially in these challenging times.
Trinity Lutheran in partnership with Wayside Food program is distributing a Free meal every Wednesday from 1-2PM in parking lot behind our church at 612 Main Street. We will be wearing masks and ask people picking up meals to do the same.
Due to the virus Trinity Lutheran Church is unable to pick up the jars that were placed in businesses in late February for "Climb Aboard the Food Train". As soon as it is safe we will pick up the jars. If anyone would like to contribute to our annual fundraiser, please send check to Trinity Lutheran designated for Westbrook Food Pantry. Thank you for your patience and stay safe! Blessings - Social Ministry
